Optimizing parameter for electrophoretic deposition of hydroxyapatite coating with superior corrosion resistance on pure titanium

Abstract Bioactive hydroxyapatite (HA) coating is applied on a commercially pure Ti by electrophoretic deposition (EPD). Optimizing the structure necessary to obtain stable layer and best corrosion protection. The EPD was conducted at constant voltage of 20, 30, 40 V for 30 min in HA/DMF (dimethylformamide) suspension. Uniform HA layers with Ca/P ratio 1.82 were successfully deposited surface. layers, which consisted grains size 1–5 μ m, exhibited gradual increase thickness 32, 50, 60 m formation voltage. For biomedical application, suitable least 50 m. high compaction led an order magnitude higher polarization resistance ten times lower current density relative other specimens. porous formed 20 V, presence cracks V-coating 30-V coating. V- V-coatings remained intact triggered during immersion simulated body fluid 28 days, while dissolved into solution. optimum depositing reasonable V.
